Mr Kristian Spoors - Physiotherapist
I am Nottingham born and bred. I was born in Hyson Green, went to primary school in Bingham, secondary school in West Bridgford and completed my BSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Nottingham. I adore my Home City and all it's quirks and changes through the years. I now live in the City Centre with my beautiful Colombian fiancee. I have three grown children who are (nearly) all adults. We all speak Spanish at varying levels and very much enjoy the latin culture that pervades our day to day lives. Combining the best of both England and Colombia whenever we can, I guess we are a truly multicultural family these days!
I am a qualified physiotherapist skilled in all aspects of programmed, periodised and progressive prescriptive exercise and physiotherapeutic intervention. I am constantly striving to optimise my skills and direct them towards situations and environments in which they will both be effectively utilised and developed. My very early vocational training was in communication and I would like to think that I bring a deep understanding of how to draw the essential need from my patients by, primarily, listening and learning to ensure I deliver the appropriate information to enable their independence from me.
My passion has always been human movement and it's limitations. I am driven by a desire to enable the general population's understanding of the inherent multiple benefits in self-assessing, treating and managing all activities of daily life or work to decelerate the perceived onset and cost of premature physiological ageing. Whilst we are all undeniably ageing gradually I see no reason why that should lead to us being in pain, especially in the absence of pathology.
I have been active in the Health and Fitness industry for over 25 years now. I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey through being a young, possibly over enthusisatic, gym instructor to setting up and running gyms. Twenty years ago I completed my personal training diploma and went on to become a National Course Director for the YMCA, delivering and assessing personal training qualifications throughout Great Britain.
I am the author of the 'Make Mobility Your Friend' series of books which is gradually expanding to eventually cover all areas of life, in both occupational and recreational areas. I have a vision in which all people everywhere have access to the essential knowledge that will allow us all to live a pain free life. Whilst we may not all remain completely disease free throughout our lives, I would like to think that we can all do more to embrace life and, through it’s ever increasing longevity, maintain our ability to learn, play and thrive in our respective communities.
