Lower Back

Back pain is the single largest cause of sick days in the UK.

It is clearly in the interest of both employees AND employers to manage and treat any episodes of back pain effectively. Back pain can, however, affect anyone at any time. In fact, over 40% of the population that are 50 years old or above are suffering from chronic and persistent back pain!

Most of the time the aches and pains will come and go within a couple of days. There are, though, always underlying reasons for a painful episode, whether the cause is obvious or not. It may be non-specific low back pain, sciatica, disc problems or simply a temporary spasm induced joint stiffness.

How We Can Help

Virtually everybody has experienced an episode of back pain over the course of their lives. It may have had an identifiable incident as the cause, suddenly come on with no obvious cause or been coming and going for years.

Identifying the cause of non-specific, chronic back pain is sometimes near impossible. There are many variables and suggestions for the cause of back pain, from posture to disc prolapses to trapped nerves, to confidence and worries about family and friends.

Most back pain has more than one cause and needs to be approached very carefully to afford a long term solution. The fact that your back becomes painful does not, in itself, mean that it is damaged. In many cases the best treatment is movement.

The goal at The Moballise Physiotherapy Clinic is to put YOU in control of your treatment. You should leave physiotherapy treatment with a well detailed and agreed plan of how to manage your ongoing symptoms.
